It’s time for the monthly Lawrence Tweetup lunch! This month, join local Lawrence tweeters at Java Break, a downtown Lawrence coffee shop and restaurant.

  • When: Tuesday, September 28
  • Time: 12-1 p.m.
  • Where: Java Break, 17 E. 7th Street, Lawrence

Java Break has been a Lawrence icon for many years. It’s open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and has more than just coffee. While they have all sorts of coffee drinks, they also serve a variety of paninis all day, every day. There’s baked goods and a decorate-your-own cupcake experience. And if you haven’t seen their cereal bar, you’re missing out! Mix and match over 30 cereal types and 20 toppings, add your milk, and eat while watching classic cartoons. Just like Saturday mornings of childhood!

We’ll meet for lunch in the Graffiti Room. Join us for this unique experience! Check out their website for menus of drinks, paninis and the cereal bar.

Follow Java Break on Twitter. Hope to see you there!

Join the Lawrence Tweetup group and residents of Lawrence to socialize, have fun and support the United Way of Douglas County!

The United Way’s community campaign kickoff carnival is next week. This event is a fun way to begin their annual community fundraising drive.

  • When: Thursday, September 9
  • Time: 5:30 p.m.
  • Where: South Park

Lots of activities are planned for this family-friendly event! Come enjoy live music, clowns and cotton candy. A fire truck will be there and Baby Jay will make an appearance. Jump in the bounce house or compete in the bag toss tournament. And, there’s a pie-throwing contest!

Hy-Vee is providing free hot dogs and chips, and there will be free Live United t-shirts for the first 500 attendees. Stan Herd, the famed Lawrence artist, will direct a group photo of everyone in attendance. Don’t miss this event!

Bring your friends and fellow tweeters, and don’t forget to tweet before and during this event. Use the hashtag #uwdgcokickoff. Meet up with other tweeters near the bounce house at 5:30, or find the people staring at their phones while walking around. We can help spread the word about the United Way’s mission and have fun at the same time!

In case of rain, the event will be moved to Abe & Jake’s Landing.

RSVP for the event here and invite your friends.
