Join the Lawrence Tweetup for our second annual Tweetup in the Park!

  • When: Saturday, June 19
  • Time: 4-9 p.m.
  • Where: Clinton Park, located at 5th & Maine in Lawrence (note: this is not Clinton State Park at the lake, this is a neighborhood park near Lawrence Memorial Hospital

Last year our inaugural picnic in the park had a great group of over 70 people. Help us make this year’s event bigger and better! We’re inviting social media enthusiasts from Lawrence and the surrounding areas. The invitation is open to members of the Lawrence Tweetup, Social Media Clubs of Lawrence and Kansas City, Topeka Tweetup, and Free State Social attendees. Come meet fellow social media users and bring your friends! This is a family friendly event, so feel free to bring the kids.

Please bring a food or drink item to share. We’ll have a couple of grills fired up, so bring hot dogs, burgers, chips, side dishes, desserts, or drinks. We hope to have a great potluck style celebration with a lot of variety. The picnic organizers will provide paper plates, cups, napkins, and cutlery- you don’t need to bring those items.

You can bring beer, but it must be in cans due to city ordinances prohibiting bottles. Please don’t bring any type of alcohol in glass bottles.

If your business would like to donate food or drink, please let us know! We’d love the donation and it would be a great opportunity to showcase your business to a very talkative and influential community. We’ll be sure to recognize your support on our website and social media sites.

The shelter area will be reserved for our event, so there will be plenty of seating in the shade. There’s also a basketball hoop, kids play area, and lots of open space for yard games. If you have any outdoor games you want to bring along, please do!

Thanks to @CraveLawrence for paying the cost of the park reservation and covering the costs of the basic supplies we need for the event! They’ll also be donating some prizes that will be up for grabs to those attending. Make sure to follow @CraveLawrence for local food and drink specials.

The Sandbar (@thesandbar) will provide a cooler full of their famous Bahama Mama tropical drinks- without the alcohol, so everyone can enjoy them! And of course, a tropical drink isn’t complete without drink umbrellas, toys, and beads so there will be plenty of those to go around too. They’ll donate a couple of fun prizes for attendees, also.

The Sandbar Sub Shop in Ottawa, KS (@sandbarsubs), is providing a tray of their fresh sandwiches for attendees to sample. The Sub Shop has a second location open in Ottawa’s Zarco66 station, and a third location will open this summer in the Zarco66 on East 23rd Street in Lawrence. The Sub Shop offers sandwiches, salads, and smoothies in a fun Sandbar atmosphere
