Lawrence Tweetup is One Year Old!
Your favorite local social media meetup group is celebrating its first anniversary! The first Lawrence Tweetup was founded last January and was attended by Ben Smith (@benasmith), Phil Martinez (@philmartinez), Briana Saunders (@briana9), and Michelle Compton (@mcompton). It was located at Borders and lasted for about 2 hours. Afterwards Ben, Phil, and Briana decided to meet regularly and organize the Lawrence Tweetups on a monthly basis. Since then it has been a fun year filled with beer tastings and baseball, picnics and potlucks, and wine and hurricanes. Each month featured a local venue for social media users to meet, eat, and drink. In August, we added a monthly lunch tweetup to give you another opportunity to socialize. And in September, we put on Lawrence's first Twestival, a charity event that raised over $3000 for the Lawrence Humane Society. Your charitable spirit continued to show at our holiday party in December, where we collected a box full of non-perishable food items for the Ballard Community Center.

The anniversary party will feature music by @DJSoap, who has been a great supporter of #ltwup. There will be cake and party hats for all! And, we'll have a slideshow with pictures from Tweetups throughout the year. If you have pictures to share, please email them to lawrencetweetup@gmail.com.
Start tweeting your favorite memories from 2009 Tweetups! Use the hashtag #ltwupmem on your tweet, and you could win a prize! We'll do a random prize drawing from all the tweets with this hashtag. You'll also have a chance to win just by showing up- we'll have a couple of random prize drawings for all the attendees to enter.
